TRANSform A Trans-Led, Community Co-Designed Longitudinal Trans Health Project: Key Research Findings and Advocacy
TRANSform is a trans-led, community co-designed research project that has been running since May 2020. To mark the first 5 years of the project, the Trans Health Research Group (University of Melbourne) have published a report covering key research findings and advocacy.
The Trans Health Research team are based in the Department of Medicine, at The University of Melbourne, Australia. They conduct research with one goal: to provide robust evidence to improve the health and wellbeing of trans communities. Their research covers three priority areas – gender-affirming hormone therapy (GAHT), mental health and wellbeing, and health care service delivery and their research findings have been translated into health and wellbeing programs, treatment guidelines, and health policy.

‘I just want to feel equal to others’: Hearing from trans and gender diverse children and young people in WA
Source: Commissioner for Children and Young People (WA Perth). Summary: This report by the WA Commissioner for Children and Young People highlights the perspective of gender diverse children and young people. It focuses on their experiences in accessing support for their emotional wellbeing and their sense of safety, belonging and support within their families, schools and their communities. Based on these experiences, the Commissioner has identified a range of actions to be undertaken to improve the wellbeing, experiences and outcomes for gender diverse children and young people. Fuelling Hate

Summary: "Fuelling Hate" is the largest ever investigation into anti-trans hate in Australia, compiling data from over 3099 survey responses, including 1309 responses from people in the trans and gender diverse community. The results show that anti-trans abuse, harassment, and violence in Australia is widespread and is escalating rapidly.

Summary: The Australian Queer Archives (AQuA) collects, preserves and celebrates material from the lives and experiences of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and gender diverse, intersex, queer, Brotherboy and Sistergirl (LGBTIQ+) Australians. A collection of over 500 oral history recordings from across Australia which document camp life from the 1930s to the 1960s, gay liberation activism and law reform, and extends to the present day.

A map of gender-diverse cultures
